Printing Knowledge Of Flexible Packaging | Donglin Packaging

Flexible packaging printing mainly adopts gravure printing technology, divided into intaglio engraving and copperplate. Intaglio engraving is suitable for cases with thick lines and few colors, while copperplate is suitable for cases with fine lines and multiple colors.

During printing, colors are represented using the CMYK four-color model, along with a standard white and spot colors for special printing requirements. RGB colors are more commonly used for non-printed materials, digital printing, and online platforms.

Food-related flexible packaging often employs a multi-layer composite approach, using reverse printing with suitable inks. On the other hand, hand-held plastic bags are mostly single-layer films, and they are typically printed with surface printing methods. The number of plates required for flexible packaging production depends on the colors in the design pattern and follows a specified printing sequence based on colors. Reverse printing and surface printing require careful attention to the correct orientation of the text during plate making and cannot be interchanged.

After printing is completed, the products need to undergo post-processing to add functions such as waterproofing and fire resistance. Additionally, product creasing and printing position accuracy must be inspected. The design and printing of flexible packaging are crucial steps to ensure product safety and aesthetics.
